Patrol Leader Training Weekend 2010

PLs training weekend (11/12 December 2010). This will take place at the 4th Uckfield HQ, commencing at 10am on the Saturday and finishing at 1pm on the Sunday, after which troop leaders will be asked to collect their Scouts and transport them to the Carol Service in Crowborough. The event will be run by Alan, Stewart, Martyn, Ann and Tony, with some additional help from a few Explorers. Susan Cooke will also be involved for part of the time on the Saturday. We will be using the HQ for indoor discussions and some team-building activities, whilst others will take place outside, and the Scouts (and leaders) will be camping outside. Final details will be issued in a week or two but for now, please pass this info on to the Scouts that you'd like to send along (i.e. PLs who have not been to this kind of thing before, and APLs) and make sure that they are available to attend.

10:00	Registration & Health Form check, stow rucksacks & tents in HQ
10:15	Initial Discussion - explain purpose of weekend - divide into 3 patrols,
10:30	Teambuilding Game 1 (provided and run by Stewart)
10:50	Teambuilding Game 2 (provided by Stewart, run by Martyn)
11:10	Teambuilding Game 3 (provided by Stewart, run by Ann)
11:30	Patrol Leaders Councils – discuss ideas for afternoon and evening programmes
11:50	Group Forum – Feedback from PLCs (chair: Alan)
12:15	Outdoor Game (if necessary, snowballing!) run by Stewart
12:35	Lunch preparation by Duty Patrol 1 (other patrols pitch tents for all)
13:00	Lunch break for all (Duty Patrol 1 then clear up)

15:30	Moving On – the transition to Explorers (chaired by Martyn)

16:40	Challenging behaviour – role play and critique (chaired by Susan)
17:00	Duty Patrol 2 prepare evening meal, other patrols – build campfire
17:40	Evening Meal
18:00	Duty Patrol 3 wash up & clear away, other patrols – free time
18:30	Discussion – risk assessment, POR, child protection (chaired by Susan)
