**** PRESS RELEASE****

1st Hartfield Scouts flex their Business Brains in aid of Children in Need.

As part of an ongoing programme theme based on the TV Series ‘The Apprentice’, 1st Hartfield Scout Troop were set the challenge of marketing, promoting and selling tickets for a Disco for 8 – 15 year olds, plus  the two ‘company’s’ (‘Stealth’ and ‘The Green Dice Company’) also had to  run two side shows each on the night.  All proceeds to be donated to Children in Need.  Sounds easy, but the catch was they only had 2 weeks to make it all happen.

Tickets and Posters had to be designed and printed, Side Shows conceived and prepared then there was the daunting task of trying to sell in excess of 100 tickets as possible.

After 2 weeks of organising, phone calls back and forth, the night arrived last Friday.  Approx 70 children turned up for an evening of music, dancing and fun & games.  A fantastic result, worthy of the amount of effort that the Scouts had put in over the previous 2 weeks.  At the end of the night, Alan Thompson, ADC Scouts, came along and announced that ‘Stealth Company’ had sold the most tickets and raised the most amount of money from their sideshows, but more importantly, overall, the event raised just over £380 for Children in Need.

If you would like to become part of our successful team – either as a Scout (aged 10.5 – 14yrs) or as an Adult Helper/Leader.  Then contact Neil Postlethwaite, Group Scout Leader, on 01892 770743 or GSL@1sthartfield.co.uk.

My Scouts, as part of ‘The Apprentice’ programme, have been scripted to promote and sell tickets for a Disco in aid of Children in Need.  Although their enthusiasm is fantastic, their selling technique needs some work!  We therefore have some spare tickets up for grabs for this Friday’s Disco.

There is a professional Disco, Side shows (run by the ‘Green Dice’ and ‘Stealth’ companies), a Soft Drinks Bar (selling soft drinks & glo-sticks) and should be a great evening.

There are only a total of 150 places available, many of which have been sold by the Scouts themselves – but there are still plenty left if your Cubs or Scouts are interested.

Please contact either me by e-mail, or Jacob on the telephone number below and get your tickets before they sell out (I hope!).
