Who is it for?

All Scouts and All Explorers in Ashdown District, together with their Leaders and regular adult helpers.

Where?

Woodpecker Field, Blackland Farm (Girlguiding UK Campsite), Grinstead Lane, East Grinstead, West Sussex RH19 4HP

When?

What is the programme?

The programme will deliberately be relaxed, with Scouts being encouraged to try different activities and games in whatever order they like, mingling those from other Troops and Units. They will also be encouraged to eat at different “Restaurants” for their evening meal on Saturday and their Breakfast on Sunday. The approximate overall programme will be:

11am arrive and set up Troop camps, followed by packed lunches

2pm to 6pm free time to sample games and activities on Woodpeckers’ Field, or just meet new friends, book into your chosen ‘Restaurant’ and ‘chill out

6pm to 8pm Evening meal + washing up at your chosen restaurant

8pm to 9pm Wide game

9pm to 11pm Campfire then hot drinks

11pm lights out (Chill in silence!)

7am Rise & Shine

8am Flag Break then Breakfast + clearing up

9am Strike Camp

10:30am Final game

11am Go Home

Camping Arrangements

Each Troop / Unit needs to decide how it wants to camp (types and layout of tents), within an allocated area at the edge of Woodpeckers field. Flush toilets and washbasins are included in the price (showers extra)

Catering Arrangements

Each Troop /Unit needs to plan a menu to cater for the number of people (including adults) that they bring to the camp, and then run a restaurant for that number of people, taking bookings from individual Scouts and Explorers from other Troops and Units.

Campfire

Each Troop / Unit needs to prepare for this by bringing along at least 3 sketches and 3 songs that they will perform. (notify in advance to Alan to avoid duplication)

Kit List

See advice from your leader, but include Group Scarf, waterproofs, warm clothes, boots and sleeping bag
