Ashdown District held a Swimming Gala in Tunbridge Well pool on the 8 March 2008 between 6.00 and 9.00pm.

The response to the revised swimming gala was exceptional and every one from Beaver Scouts to Fellowship were involved in the evening. Several members of 1st Ticehurst decided to go all Caribbean but it added to the fun of the event.
The evening started with games for the Beavers and after a few heats the Cubs joined in and swam several of their events. The Beavers finish off their part of the evening by swimming their finals of the heats and then took part in a floats collection from the middle of the pool and swimming to the side, dumping them and then at the end counting up the floats to increase their score.  The cubs finished their part of the evening by swimming their finals of the heats and then took part in a "Transport " game that involved moving floats of all different shapes and sizes to the other side of the pool. Again the amount transported added to their scores.

With the change round of the pool to swimming lengths the Scouts competed in a number of different heats using the well known strokes of swimming. This concluded with finals of the heats and the start of the obstacle races that included swimming down the pool with dives to go through hoops that had been place at the bottom of the pool. Not to be out done the Explorers, that had been helping out all through the evening, swam several events including swimming in pyjamas.

The underwater swim brought the evening to a close with the winning swimmer completing over 2 lengths of the pool.

The Fellowship had been selling raffle tickets all evening and with 17 prizes brought in by different people and Units it proved to be a very successful raffle. Very many thanks to the Fellowship.
