Well done, a great turn out at JOTI and JOTA!
I would like to thank you, Oli and Grant and the rest of the team for making both my scouts and me so very welcome and for
organising a great event. I know how hard you guys worked to get it all set up and working and still be smiling Saturday morning (Or was it wind?).
I can only speak of those I saw and spoke to but they all left buzzing with excitement about 'talking' to other Scouts from
all over the World. Certainly Emily & Amelia took well over an hour to calm down again (Thanks!!)
Very well done! Yours in Scouting Drew Marshall (Groombridge GSL) (19 Nov 09) |

I’ve just stumbled over your web site and it is wonderful.
I moved to Bridlington (E Yorks) from a hyper-active Group in Bradford (W Yorks) 3 years ago to find a District which had lost its sense of
excitement. All the usual problems – many of them stemming from an inability to find new leaders to replace the dwindling number of old die hards who have given
a life time of service.
We restarted a Cub Pack 12 months ago – see www.1stbridlingtonscouts.co.uk
Our accommodation is cramped, and we are critically short of adult leaders.
Your web site has encouraged me enormously.
Thanks, David Butland (10 October 2008) |
Our house buzzed last night with the feel good factor of the show, Grandparents too - were you going to have a blog on the web site so we can post our
thoughts and congratulations etc?
We have counted the donations for Children in Need - grand total £256.85 - I shall pay this in tomorrow under the group name.
Regards, and very well done for a most excellent show.

For starters – 1979 Bentley Copse I’m 6th row (1st standing row), 7th from left.

Just a note to express our thanks for all the time and effort you have givento the Scouts, over the past few months during the Overland Training and the Snowdonia Trip. We are aware that there has been support from many other leaders aswell, but I am sure it is your continual enthusiasm that helps to drive everyone along!
We have seen the personal development that our sons have gone through over themonths of training and it is a delight to see our boys becoming more confident and independent. Please could you pass on our thanks to Alan Thompson, for theeffort he also put into the training and the trip. We know he was also a significant leader in these event. We look forward to our boys enjoying more of your'character-forming events'!

I came across the 1st Crowborough website by accident over my lunch today and was most chuffed to see my nameand picture occasionally (even if it was spelt wrong on the Operation Triangle '88 page!). It brought back many happy memories. I have some events on filmtucked away in boxes that you might want to add to the site. Mostly in the second half of the '80s including some venture camps that don't currently appear inthe list (cycling in Belgium, skiffing in Bedford).
I was in Forest then Chapman and then Ventures (I designed the 'Bricklayers' sweaters and even still have minesomewhere), finishing around '91 or maybe '92 during University. Then I was a Venture Scout Leader for a few years in Abingdon, Oxfordshire. I now live inCanada with my wife and two kids and my son has just started Beavers here - and so it continues :)

Thanks very much for an excellent adventure on the Overland. All the Crowborough parents were very proud, especially as the boys were so young.

I have been looking at your website, is there any way you could make it less busy, it is already quite colourful, but I can not concentrate with all the text moving and curser icons buzzing over the screen, in fact I really don’t want to read any more as I find it difficult to read.
I do appreciate this is all done on a voluntary basis, my feedback is sent with respect.

I want to tell you about the Crowborough Website! It is ...... It's way too busy. Please drop that horrid scrolling "Crowborough" and don't cram so much onto one page. Not everyone is on broadband, it took an age to download too. I've been looking on the pages to find out when the Christmas post was to be delivered (done, thanks that was on the first page)
I guess the page has to appeal to teenage boys, but they're not the only ones looking at it.
I hope the feedback is helpful. Many thanks Natalie Whittle (13 Dec 07)
| Dear John,
Thanks for the feedback; I'll make sure this is shared with all the colleagueswho helped with the weekend, both up-front and behind the scenes.
And "Wow", clearly you are providing some positive leadership and motivation forthe various Sections and leaders in your Group; good luck, and "have fun" doingit.
Best wishes,
Derek Twine (2 Oct 2006)

| Hi 1st Crowborough, It has been a long time ago since I visited your group with the Jan Campert group. Great memories of the eighties and early nineties came alive while checking out the timeline. I heard that the weakened link between 1st Crowb. and Jan Camp. gets stronger again.
Keep up the good work! I wish you all a lot of scouting fun, specially at next years jubilee summercamp. A left hand for you all. Ron Groenestein, Jan Campert, Maarssen, Netherlands (20 Nov 2006)
| I have just spent the last couple of hours trawling through photos (mostly of Dan looking slim) on your site. It really is brilliant. Jim Camis (8 Dec 06)
